French actor Raymond Pellegrin died on October 14, at the age of 87, at his residence in Garons, southwestern France, of unspecified natural causes. Popular in the French country, the actor leaves behind more than six decades of intense work in film, theater and the small screen.

A native of Nice, Pellegrin was born on New Year’s Day 1925. In 1943 he made his debut with a small role in Six petites filles en blanc , by Yvan Noé, although he did not begin to stand out until the following decade, with titles such as The Light from the Front , from 1955, a drama in which he starred with Brigitte Bardot . In the film And the day of revenge arrived, Fred Zinnemann ‘s thriller that takes place during the Spanish postwar period, Pellegrin played Carlos, the friend who betrays the protagonist, a ‘maquis’ played by Gregory Peck  who returns to Spain when he finds out about his mother’s illness. Right after, his voice became famous, when he voiced the mysterious delinquent in the trilogy consisting of Fantomas , Fantomas Returns and Fantomas vs. Scotland Yard , starring Louis de Funès . His portrayal of the lead in Sacha Guiltry’s Napoleon (1955) was so memorable that the actor reprized the character in Imperial Venus and in the television series La Caméra explore le temps and Madame Sans-Gêne . His works stand out with great French directors such as Marcel Pagnol , in Manon des sourcesAndré Cayatte , in Nous sommes tous des assassins , and Claude Lelouch , with whom he worked on Viva la vie! and The Ones and the Others . She also had a prominent role in Nicholas Ray ‘s Bitter Victory . They demanded a lot of him in Italy, a country where he shot titles like The Super Cop , with Bud Spencer . In recent years, the actor had retired, although in 2002 he played a role in the telefilm Notes sur le rire .
