Ray Liotta, extraordinary actor who became known with Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas”, died on May 26, 2022,  while he was sleeping, in the Dominican Republic, where he was filming the movie “Dangerous Waters”. He and he was 67 years old and left behind a daughter, Karsen. He was engaged to be married to Jacy Nittolo.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, on December 18, 1954, Raymond Allen Liotta – Ray  Liotta ‘s full name – was abandoned as a baby in an orphanage. Six months later, he adopted the couple formed by Mary, a municipal official of Scottish descent, and Fred, an Italian-American owner of an establishment. He studied acting at the University of Miami, although he hadn’t dreamed of being an actor for as long as he could remember. “I didn’t like acting. I enrolled in Dramatic Art because it wasn’t necessary to study mathematics, and because a pretty girl told me it was worth it,” he recalled in an interview.

After finishing his studies,  Ray  Liotta  moved to New York, ready to succeed in the Broadway theater. After several months working as a waiter, he got accepted by an agent, who landed him a regular role on Another World, a soap opera.  Encouraged by the good reviews, he decided to travel to Los Angeles to try his luck in the movies. He debuted on the big screen in The Lonely Lady , from 1983, although his first important role is remembered as that of Something Wild , for which he won a Golden Globe nomination, for giving life to the ex-husband of Melanie Griffith , who is released from prison after several years of sentence. In 1989,  Ray  Liotta he played the ghost of baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams , opposite Kevin Costner .

But  Ray  Liotta  rose to fame after starring in Martin Scorsese ‘s Good fellas in 1990 , where he shared the screen with  Robert De Niro  and  Joe Pesci . “For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. For me, being a gangster was better than being president of the United States ”, said his character, Henry Hill, at the beginning of this classic, who has been involved in the world of the mafia from a very young age. “I am aware that I am only remembered for that movie, but if you can get people to associate you with a movie, you can be satisfied. Many people tell me that they have also seen me in Field of Dreams, so I consider myself privileged”, he commented on one occasion. Despite the enormous impact of the film, the roles do not rain down on him, although he plays memorable roles in titles such as  Hidden in Memory  and  Cop Land . He shone above all as Frank Sinatra , in the TV movie  The Rat Club .

On the other hand,  Ray  Liotta  played Justice Department official Paul Krendler in Hannibal in 2001, where he became the victim of Hannibal Lecter, who in some harsh images opened his skull. That same year he played the father of drug dealer George Jung ( Johnny Depp ) in Blow and, shortly thereafter, Detective Lieutenant Henry Oak in Narc , directed by Joe Carnahan . He was also in titles like  John Q ,  Identity ,  Revolver ,  or  Wild Hogs . In 2004, he took to the Broadway stage as the lead in Stephen Belber’s “Match” opposite Frank Langella . 

Ray  Liotta  married Michelle Grace , an actress and producer, whom he had met at a baseball game in 1997. The couple had a daughter, before divorcing in 2007. After learning to ride a horse to shoot the western Texas Rising , he became fond of horse riding. In the later years of his career, he appeared in such titles as  Marriage Story  and  No Sudden Moves .

On television he appeared in “Time of Death”, one of the most remembered episodes of ER . She starred in Shades of Blue , along with Jennifer Lopez , between 2016 and 2018. Death Surprised Him Filming, by John Barr, responsible for  Blood and Money . He gave life to a man with a shady past, the new boyfriend of a young woman played by  Odeya Rush , who spends the holidays with both of them.
