- Lewis formed his Ray Lewis 52 non-profit organization that provides help to underprivileged youth from an economic and personal perspective.
- He was selected by the Baltimore Ravens as the 26th overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft.

- In 2004, Lewis was added to the cover of the Madden NFL 2005 video game.

However, Ray, who was wrongly accused of the double murder, was put on a 12-month probation as the maximum sentence for a first-time offender is one year in prison. The NFL charged the NFL star $250,000 for involvement in an incident. In June 2000, both Oakley and Sweeting were cleared of charges and no other suspects were jailed in the incident.
