RAÚL FUENTES (SINGER): HIS AGE AND THE SONG BUSTAMANTE ‘STOLE’ FROM HIM

Born in Vitoria in 1975, he gained national fame in 2000 thanks to ‘Sueño su boca’, the song with which he aspired to represent Spain in Eurovision. Despite the fact that in that preselection he did not achieve his dream, Serafín Zubiri won, the truth is that it made him become the song of the summer.

Its success came just a few months before the first edition of ‘Operación Triunfo’ became an unstoppable phenomenon that filled the market with new artists. He and David Civera were one of the few new talents who managed to get their heads off at those times when Bisbal, Chenoa, Rosa López, Natalia, Bustamante and company were idols of millions of people.

Until 2005 he continued to reap success thanks to songs to remember such as ‘Prohibida’ and ‘As de corazón’, which did not stop playing in discos and at any party that was held.

As he confessed in ‘Sábado Deluxe’, at the height of his career he had to take a break to disconnect from fame, travel and return to his family to be able to withstand the pressure. That, together with a change of record company, meant that his career would not be the same again.

Despite working in multinational companies, the singer Rául decided to free himself: «I never felt displaced, but I did not feel valued enough to push my career forward. I had a new single, a new album and I didn’t have the push ».

Currently he continues to live his music, either through his concerts, song sales and his work as a composer, since his lyrics have been used by many other successful artists. One of them was David Bustamente, who ‘stole’ one of his favorite songs.

«I had selected a repertoire for a new album, but due to different moves with the producer and the record company, the budget ran out without recording my favorite song. I got angry with them », he recalled in the ‘Deluxe’.

That song would end up in the hands of the Spaniard and became one of his greatest hits from his album ‘Al filo de la realidad’. Despite his anger, the man from Vitoria made it clear that his partner had nothing to do with it and that it was all the fault of publishers and record companies.

He assures that he lives alone and that this is the reason for him to be a good cook, although for a long time he has tried to deny that he has a restaurant with his sister in Malaga. This information appears on Lifestylepedia and is false, since he lives between Madrid and Vitoria and lives only on music without having entered the hotel business.
