His meeting with Daniel Sánchez Arévalo made him one of the most promising Spanish actors. From the beginning of his career, Raúl Arévalo more than demonstrated that he is not lacking in talent.

Born on November 22, 1979 in Móstoles (Madrid), Raúl Arévalo Zorzo took a theater course when he was studying high school, and decided to be an actor, although he also thought about studying History. “My father loves movies, but although he didn’t tell me not to study to be an actor, he wasn’t enthusiastic either. Even when he was beginning to be known, he reminded me that he should have also studied something else just in case, ”says the actor.

He waited to pass the COU to enroll in the famous Cristina Rota acting school . When he hadn’t finished yet, he was chosen to play Carlos, one of the guys from the Compañeros series . “I remember the first scene I shot. I had to be careful to look good in front of the three cameras that were filming me and I found it very difficult, ”he recalls.

Since then, he has wandered through numerous series such as Cuéntame cómo paso pasó and Hospital central . In the cinema they barely considered him except for small jobs in titles such as The Undersigned and Things that make life worthwhile .

He seemed destined to spend his life as an irrelevant supporting role until he got the role of Azul Oscuro Casi Negro , Daniel Sánchez Arévalo ‘s debut . He played Sean, a boy who found out that his father was gay. He won the Best Secondary Award from the Union of Actors.

This work made him one of Sánchez Arévalo’s fetish actors, who also recruited him for Cousins , The Great Spanish Family , and Gordos , for which he won the Spanish Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. “I have become nervous now that I have the Goya because before I was not. I was relaxed because I didn’t expect it”, commented the actor when going on stage.

The success opened the doors to other works, such as  El camino de los ingleses , directed by Antonio Banderas . o Seven French billiard tables , by Gracia Querejeta . She also tried her luck with the theater, as the protagonist of “Urtain”, a play about Spanish boxing where he played the boxer Pedro Carrasco . “In the theater it is as if he taught classes every day. I feel like a beginner and I learn every day”, explains Arévalo.

Despite his implausible interpretation of a deacon fooled to the point of ridicule by Maribel Verdú in Los girasoles ciegos , and his work in the expendable musical Why do they rub their legs? , Raúl Arévalo has stood out as a secondary in titles such as Che, Guerrilla , También la lluvia or Balada triste de trompeta . Even Pedro Almodóvar succumbed to good work, making him, along with Javier Cámara and Carlos Areces , one of the stewards, perhaps they were the only salvageable thing in Los amantes pasajeros . He also lavishes himself on series like El tiempo entre costuras ,Bare-ass , Velvet and The Embassy .

He shone in the thriller field, especially as a transition policeman in La isla mínima , but also as the president’s chief of staff in One Hundred Years of Forgiveness . His debut as a director, Tarde para la ira , is circumscribed to this genre, a solid story in which Curro ( Luis Callejo ) tries to redeem himself after a season in prison, but the ghosts of the past will awaken an unknown ( Antonio de la Torre , who stood out with Arévalo in the aforementioned Dark Blue Almost Black ). The film obtained the Goya for supporting actor ( Manolo Solo), original script (co-written by himself), novel direction and film. On the red carpet, he posed with his girlfriend, also an actress Melina Matthews , while he agreed with his ex,  Alicia Rubio , who is also part of the profession.
