Ranjit chowdhry
It never achieved popularity, but it was lavished in Indian cinema, and in American series. Ranjit Chowdhry passed away on April 15, 2020, at the age of 64, according to the Indian newspaper “The Economic Times”. The New York-based actor was in India when he was detained due to the confinement decreed in the country due to the coronavirus. There he suffered a severe intestinal ulcer.
Born on September 19, 1955 in Mumbai, Ranjit Chowdhry came from a family of actors, making his stage debut at an early age. He was soon recruited into the Bollywood film industry, launching his screen career with Basu Chatterjee’s Khatta Meetha , followed by two great Indian comedy classics , Basu Chatterjee’s Baton Baton Mein and Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Khubsoorat .
In the 1990s he moved to Hollywood, where he appeared alongside Denzel Washington in Mississippi Masala , by his compatriot Mira Nair , and in titles such as Autumn in New York , where he played a fakir. During the last years of his life, he combined the cinema, with titles like Fuego , by Deepa Mehta , with appearances in series like The Office , New York Police Officers and Prison Break .
