Randall Park is an American actor, comedian and writer, best known for portraying Kim Jong-un in the 2014 film “The Interview”. Many people also recognize his work as the father of Eddie Huang, American restaurateur Louis Huang, in Fresh Off the Boat. For which, he received a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2016.
He had also worked in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and the DC Extended Universe film “Aquaman”. Park was born on March 23, 1974, to Korean immigrants in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in Castle Heights, Los Angeles with his older brother. Also, his mother worked as an accountant at UCLA, Los Angeles while his father owned a one-hour photo shop. He is of mixed ethnicity of Vietnamese, Chinese, and American descent.
Regarding his education, he graduated from the magnetic program of Hamilton High School. He then joined the University of California in 1993. During this time he co-founded ‘Lapu, the Worried Coyote’ which became the oldest Asian American theater company on campus. Later, he earned a bachelor’s degree in English, with creative writing and a minor in Asian American Studies in 1997. In 2015, he returned to UCLA as a keynote speaker for the Department of Studies Commencement Ceremony Asian and American and the 2017 English Department Commencement Ceremony.

After his studies, he worked for a few years at the weekly ‘New Times LA’ as a graphic designer / printer. He then left work to pursue architectural studies, but failed to complete the prerequisite courses. In 2001 he started his stand-up comedy and has cited Mike Birbiglia and Mitch Hedberg as his influences. Subsequently, he also worked with Ali Wong , Vivian Bang and Eddie Shin, among others.

His other works include being a frontman for the Bay Area hip-hop/jazz/rock fusion band ‘III Again’. He later formed the rap group Novelist and continued under the rap name ‘Dandruff’. He also featured commercials for HB GO, Ally Financial, and Verizon Droid Father’s Day 2011, among others.
