Q’orianka Kilcher, 27 is an American actress, singer, and activist who is best known for playing the character of Ka’iulani in the 2009 film, Princess Kaiulani . She has been active in the industry since 2005. Orianka Kilcher won the 2005 NBR Award for Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actress.

Early age and education

Q’orianka Kilcher was born as Q’orianka Waira Qoiana Kilcher on February 11, 1990, in Schweigmatt, Germany to Saskia Kilcher. She has American and Dutch nationality. As for her ethnicity, she belongs to a mixed ethnicity since her father is of Quechua-Huachipaeri descent and her mother is of Swiss-German descent.

Kilcher has two brothers, Kainoa Kilcher and Xihuaru Kilcher, who are actors and stuntmen respectively. She spent most of her childhood in Hawaii and learned to hula dance at the age of five. Kilcher also learned Tahitian, West African, ballet, hip hop, and modern dance.

In 1996, Kilcher became the first child in the family to study classical voice at the University of Hawaii. At the age of 7, he won Ballet Hawaii’s Young Choreographer Award. He also took drama classes at the Diamond Heart Theatre.

Q’orianka Kilcher began her acting career as a child performer in How the Grinch Stole Christmas . In 2005, she was cast in The New World, and her performance was acclaimed by critics and audiences, helping her win her first National Board of Reviews Award and Alma Award.

Kilcher shot his independent film in 2006, which he produced through his own production company, Entertainment On-Q, and also played a minor role. She appeared in Princess Kaiulani as the main lead. In 2009, she acted in the documentary feature, People Talk.

He has worked in various movies and series such as; Shouting Secrets, Neverland, Running Deer, Sky, Unnatural, Hostiles, The Vault, and a few others. Kilcher is ready with her new venture, The Alienist which was supposed to be released in 2018 where she played the role of Mary Palmer.

Orianka Kilcher won the 2005 NBR Award for Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actress. In 2006, she was nominated for six awards for El Nuevo Mundo, in which she won both the ALMA Award and the Society of Online Film Critics Awards.

In 2007, Kilcher won the Brower Youth Award for his contribution in persuading Occidental Petroleum to withdraw from the Peruvian Amazon Valley. She also received the Young Hollywood Green Award.

In 2013, Kilcher presented the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for Free China in the category of Best Song – Indie Film/Documentary/Short Film.

Personal life

Kilcher is possibly currently single. She’s very secretive about her private things, and that might be the reason why she never says a word about her relationship status. She is very close to her cat Meeko and often shared pictures of her on her Instagram with wonderful captions.

Kilcher is active in social activism as she has raised her voice on various basic human rights and environmental justice. She has collaborated with many NGOs and international NGOs, including Amnesty International, AIDESEP, Inter-Ethnic Association, Jueves Infantil, National Endowment for the Arts, IDEM, and few more.

Kilcher has launched his youth-driven environmental and human rights organization, the On-q Initiative, to connect Hollywood youth with activist youth leaders and projects in support of environmental sustainability, corporate responsibility and basic human rights.

In 2010, Kilcher and her mother were arrested after she tied herself to a White House fence and her mother poured a black substance on her to signify oil.

The two told the officials that they were protesting the visit of former President Barack Obama and President Alan Garcia of Peru. Kilcher was charged with disorderly touching, while her mother was charged with defacing US government property.

In 2015, Kilcher released an environmental themed song, Love Song to the Earth along with Natasha Bedingfield, Sean Paul , Paul McCartney, Fergie, Colbie Caillat, Krewella, Angelique Kidjo, Christina Grimmie , Kelsea Ballerini, Victoria Justice , Nicole Scherzinger, Sheryl Crow and Toby Gad.
