The organizers of a nationwide protest against hardship have announced meeting points for rallies and processions across the country. However, a Lagos High Court has limited protesters in Lagos to only two locations: Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota and Peace Park in Ketu.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had earlier asked organizers to provide contact details and designated protest routes. But yesterday, he ordered senior officers to protect protesters during the nationwide protest.
Some stakeholders, including Catholic Bishops and the Arewa Consultative Forum, have called for restraint from both organizers and the government. They are concerned about pro-government protests in some parts of the country.
The lawyer for one of the protest organizers, Ebun Adegboruwa, has listed the protest rally convergence points, including:
  • Eagle Square, Abuja
  • Alausa Park, Lagos
  • Opposite Wema Bank, Akpakpava Lane, Benin City
  • Opposite the School of Agric, Bauchi
  • Rosewale Filling Station, Iwo Road, Ibadan
  • Maiduguri Roundabout, opposite State Stadium, Damaturu, Yobe State
  • Rainbow Roundabout and Pantani Stadium, Rivers
  • Freedom Park, Osogbo, Osun State
Adegboruwa has also requested a virtual meeting with the Inspector-General of Police, to be led by human rights activist Femi Falana, and attended by representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association and civil society organizations.
