Piper Perabo

Piper Perabo was born in Dallas on October 31, 1976. The daughter of a therapist and a poetry teacher, the family soon moved to New Jersey, where the three children in the home grew up. Piper took advantage of her high school years to participate in all the plays and musicals that came her way. So, as soon as she graduated, she began studying Drama at Ohio University, where she graduated with excellent grades. Just finished her career, she went to New York to try her luck as an actress. Until she got the first opportunity she occupied her time as a waitress in order to pay for her stay. That said, whoever has seen El Bar Coyote will know that the protagonist “Jersey” seemed to be designed by and for her.

His first steps were in short films like Single Spaced (1997). Her feature debut didn’t come until two years later, when she was the girlfriend of one of the rappers who starred in Whiteboyz . A year later, the young woman shared the bill with Robert De Niro in the children’s film The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle , where she was an FBI agent. Then came what seemed by all accounts the first great opportunity for her as an actress. She was introduced to her first starring role at the hands of El Bar Coyote. This tape for teenagers narrates the adventures of a young woman from New Jersey who travels to New York to fulfill her dream of devoting herself to music. But until she can make her wishes come true, she will have to work in a bar where the girls put on a continuous show with the way they pour drinks and dance on the bar. If even she said it: “I’m from Jersey, I work in a bar, I play the guitar – there’s no reason why I shouldn’t get this part. And it worked”, recalls Perabo. And she was embodying Violet “Jersey” Sanford when she demonstrated her acting capacity, which is reflected in her great weapon: her expressiveness. Without being the typical cinematographic beauty because of her features, perhaps too pronounced for most, her smile does know how to absolutely conquer the camera.

Although El Bar Coyote was not a blockbuster, it was quite successful. So the career that the actress has followed is somewhat disappointing. With a constant aftertaste that this girl can give much more of herself, Perabo continued in the youth line in the dramatic film El último suspiro (2001), the comedy Dale cane, which is French (2002), or the family title Twelve in home (2003) and its sequel. She has also tried other genres such as adventure in George and the Dragon (2001), terror in The Cursed Cavern (2005) or the thriller in Lawless City (Edison) (2006) and First Snow .(2006). The fact is that the last two titles mentioned are much more interesting than the previous ones, although it is quite true that Perabo was losing prominence. Something similar happened to her in The Final Trick (2006), where she worked under Christopher Nolan and was the assistant to the magician Hugh Jackman .

The return to prominence has come from the hand of A Chihuahua in Beverly Hills (2008). It is true that the great protagonist of the film is Chloe the dog, but Piper plays the niece of her owner who is commissioned to take care of her. A task at first easy, but she is in charge of denying the little trip that she insists on making to Mexico with some friends. Perabo has a film about a terrible pandemic pending release, in which she has worked under the orders of the Spanish brothers Álex and David Pastor. At the moment, nothing suggests that a radical turn in Piper’s career will take place, that she manages to pass off the bitter aftertaste of a race at half throttle. But hope is the last thing you lose. Give that smile a chance.
