Childhood
He did not have a very happy childhood, since he separated from his parents when he was one year old. Her father Thomas abandoned the family, and her mother had to go to London to work as a nurse. Pierce was left in the care of his grandparents, Philip and Kathleen, in his native Ireland. At the age of ten, when his grandparents died, he moved to London with his mother.
