- Amy Mickelson (1992 – Present) – Phil Mickelson met his wife, Amy McBride, in 1992 while they were students at the University of Arizona. He was last year when she was a junior. At college, she was a member of the Phoenix Suns cheerleading team. Phil had already won a major tournament in the PGA Tour Northern Telecom Open as an amateur. But when he first told her he was a professional golfer, she misunderstood him and thought he was in business on the golf course. On their first date, they decided to play tennis. Then, in early 1993, he asked her to compete in the Bob Hope Celebrity Pro-Am, the first tournament they competed in as a couple. They were married in a romantic wedding in November 1996 after four years of dating. In June 1999, she gave birth to her first daughter, Amanda Brynn . On the same day, he made it to the US Open as a runner-up. They welcomed their second daughter,Sophia Isabel in October 2001. In June 2003 she gave birth to their son, Evan . However, the birth was complicated and Phil even showed that he could lose both. Evan had stopped breathing and she had ruptured an artery in her uterus. But they managed to get through.
