Petr was born and raised in a makeshift town in western Bohemia, former Czechoslovakia, which has made it difficult to find and analyze information about his formal education.
However, it is known that he started his football education at a local club Škoda Plzeň (which has been renamed FC Viktoria Plzeň since) at the age of seven. After going through different age groups at the academy, he continued his football education with Czech Premier League club FK Chmel Blšany in June 1999 at the age of 16.

At the start of the 2016 season in August, Petr Čech signed a lucrative brand endorsement deal with German kit maker Puma . Under the new agreement, the Arsenal goalkeeper will have to wear Puma cleats and wear Puma gloves during matches. Previously, he had the long-term contract with Adidas , which was signed at Chelsea in his early years.
In his home country, he has a partnership with sporting goods manufacturer, Kama . According to the agreement, he has agreed to allow companies to use his trademark for the manufacture of hats and other goods. In October 1999, aged 17, he played his first professional game for FK Chmel Blšany in a 3–1 away loss to Sparta Prague.
On 15 August 2004, Čech made his Premier League debut for Chelsea against Manchester United in a 1–0 win at Stamford Bridge.

In an interview with Men’s Health UK, PetrČech revealed that his workouts involve a lot of core work and dynamic movements. The core work helps improve balance as well as body strength, while the dynamic movements improve his body reflexes and sharpen reactions as well.
Depending on when the match is, he joins the rest of his team for practice drills or stays in the gym for injury prevention drills. During training for Euro 2016, he released a video of his insane training drill. It was about putting lots of water bottles in front of his goal and firing shots there. As the ball bounced in unexpected directions, he showed great reactions. You can watch the crazy drill here.
He further revealed that he eats eggs and some fruits for his breakfast along with coffee which for some reason is key for him. His other meals are broken down into three parts – fiber, protein, and carbohydrates.

- From 2002 to July 2016, Petr Čech has played in 124 games for the Czech Republic, making him the most capped player of his national team.
- Petr Čech started as a striker at his first club, FC Viktoria Plzeň, and was eventually promoted to goalkeeping by his youth coaches.
- He was declared by UEFA as the best goalkeeper for the 2004–2005, 2006–2007 and 2007–2008 seasons in the Champions League.
- Čech holds the record for conceding 100 goals in the fewest Premier League games. He did this in 180 games.
- He has kept the most clean sheets in the league, which stood at 178 at the end of the 2015–16 season.
- In the first Czech league he holds the record for the longest unbeaten game, namely 928 minutes in the 2001/02 season.
