Between 1964 and 2006 he was dedicated exclusively to the James Bond saga, and was also at the service of James Cameron in several of his most prominent films. British art director, decorator and production designer Peter Lamont passed away at the age of 91 on December 18, 2020. “He was a much-loved member of the Bond family,” explains the official 007 website, which has released the sad news.

Born in London on November 12, 1929, Peter Lamont began at the age of twenty in the world of cinema, in various trades at Pinewood studios in his hometown. Once specializing in decor, he began to build a solid reputation for himself, especially after doing set sketches for James Bond vs. Goldfinger , which marked his first job for the licensed-to-kill agent franchise. He also participated in titles such as Thunderball , 007 on Her Majesty’s Secret Service or Live and Let Die .

Apart from this series, he also participated in successful films such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , La huella or Los niños del Brasil. After Aliens, the return , he would work again with James Cameron in Risky Lies , and Titanic , for which he won the Oscar, after three other unsuccessful nominations, for Fiddler on the Roof , The Spy Who Loved Me , and the aforementioned film about the ruthless aliens.

His son, Neil Lamont, has also become another famed production designer. He has been involved in titles like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the entire original Harry Potter saga.
