Peter Aykroyd
“Saturday Night Live”, the oldest humor program on world television, announced the death – which occurred on November 20, 2021 – of one of its first actors and screenwriters, who gave a hooligan stamp in the early years of the television program. NBC’s Peter Aykroyd, brother of actor Dan Aykroyd (“Ghostbusters”), at 66, though little else is known of the circumstances. The program rescued some of his best appearances.
Like his brother Dan, Peter Aykroyd was born in Ottawa (Canada) on November 19, 1955. Both began their journey at the Second City humor company in Toronto.
Soon after, both were featured on “Saturday Night Live.”
Peter Aykroyd collaborated with his brother on The Big Trouble and The Conches .In the 1990s, he created the science fiction series PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal with him , which ran for four seasons. In 2020 their father, also called Peter Aykroyd, passed away.
At the time of his death, he had been retired from show business for twenty years.
