Biography
The rich and famous veteran actor Pete Edochie was born on 7 March 1947 in Zaria but hails from Anambra State, the eastern part of Nigeria.
However, he began his primary education at St. Patrick’s and St. James Primary School, Zaria. Then, he proceeded to St. John’s College for secondary education. After his secondary education, he proceeded to the school of Journalism and Television England.
Edochie began his career in radio broadcasting as a junior program assistant at the age of 20. He was later elevated to be a director of programs, but doubling sometimes as Deputy Managing Director and occasionally acting as Managing Director.
Moreover, he joins the movie industry after quitting radio broadcasting because the government decided to politicize the affairs of their FM station.
Following his role in the 1980s Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, Edochie came into prominence. In the movie ‘Things Fall Apart’ he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best-selling novel.
At the age of 22, Edochie got married to his wife Josephine Edochi and their union is blessed with 5 children.

Acting Career
Pete Edochie’s acting career began at the age of 15 when he starred in the drama; Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare at St. John’s College in 1962.
However, his recognition came in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best-selling novel titled “Things Fall Apart”.
Ever since then, Edochie has featured in many other movies including the 2018 movie titled “Lionheart”.
As a result of his role in Things Fall Apart, BBC came to Nigeria to interview him, and he also got some international recognition.
Due to he is collecting huge fees from producers, the Actor Guide of Nigeria placed him and some other actors in Nigeria on one year ban from filming in 2005.
