It is an American comedy-drama show created by John Wells. The show first aired on January 9, 2011. It is an edit of the British series of the same name by Paul Abbott. It features a collective cast led by William H. Macy and Emmy Rossum.
The set of the show is on the South Side of Chicago, but it was filmed throughout the city, as well as in Los Angeles. Shameless became one of the longest-running original scripted series in Showtime history with its ninth season premiere on September 9, 2018.
