During his interview on Box to Box, the Manchester City striker also discussed how close he came to playing for England internationally.
Erling Haaland, a star for Manchester City, is unsure if Premier League defenders are afraid of him, but he isn’t completely discounting the possibility either.
Following his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has had an unprecedented start to life in the English top division. He now holds a commanding lead in the race for the 2022–23 Golden Boot.
The gigantic Norwegian has put a strain on defenses all over the nation and has occasionally appeared to be unstoppable, raising doubts about when, not if, he would break the all-time Premier League goal record.
“I’m not sure. You would need to ask them, “When asked about it during his appearance on Box to Box, Haaland responded. “They’ll probably say no, but they might be,”
This season, Haaland is unfamiliar to the bulk of English defenders, yet things would have been very different if he had spent more of his boyhood here.
Haaland was eligible to play for the Three Lions because he was born in Leeds at the time that his father, Alfie, was a Premier League player, but he chose to emulate his father and represent Norway instead because that is where he spent the majority of his early years.
“I lived here for three-and-a-half, four years,” he explained. “But I lived in Norway for such a long time, so it was natural for me to choose Norway.
“You never know how it might have been if my father had played longer in England, maybe I would be English! But I’m Norwegian, and I’m proud of it.”

That is going to be hard this season because I think also what I hear around me is that this is the strongest Premier League in years.
“At the top, you have seven or eight teams who all invested a lot, it is not one or two clubs who invested a lot, it’s not only us who invested a lot but also clubs like Newcastle United, invested really a lot, West Ham United, also massive investments, so there are many more clubs that invested but we want to be one of the first four.”
