PAUL KAYE’S CAREER

Kaye made his acting and writing debut in the TV movie Anyone for Pennis? in 1995. Later, he appeared in various television series including The Sunday Show, Perfect World and Two Thousand Acres of Sky.

In 2003, he began his career on the big screen with the film Blackball. Gradually, the actor appeared in television series and films, which led him to work as Thoros of Myr in the television series Game of Thornes from 2013 to 2017. The actor was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role in the series. It along with GOT cast including Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage , and Nathalie Emmanuel won the CinEuphoria Awards for Lifetime Achievement.

Originally, the celebrities were mainly British stars harassed at various London-based events, such as actor Hugh Grant, TV host Ulrika Jonsson and sports pundit Des Lynam. A 1995 video release of those early clips, Anyone For Pennis, secured success for the controversial comedian, who sought to expand Pennis’ reach.

His victims from then on were far more renowned, the most famous of whom were Arnold Schwarzenegger, Demi Moore , Kevin Costner, Morgan FREEMAN, and Bruce Willis , among a host of other Hollywood stars. It was obvious that these victims were unstable and unhappy with Pennis’ unique interrogation. Some stars, like Costner, insulted him back, while others, like Moore, simply refused to comment and left. Pennis was visibly amused by the look of disgust on some of the stars’ faces. There was controversy when Pennis asked Steve Martin: ‘Why aren’t you funny anymore?’ Martin subsequently canceled all scheduled press interviews. Kaye later said he had regretted this interview for a while, but “anyone who thinks they can improve on Bilko and Detective Clouseau needs a slap, right?”

The final video release, Dennis Pennis RIP: Too Rude to Live, released in 1997, saw the character killed off. As Kaye explains, “Dennis Pennis had become too expensive. Taking out a camera crew every night with no guarantee of getting even a minute of footage of me harassing celebrities was just plain stupid. And then the program took months to compile, and it was just boring, man… hanging out in the rain, twiddling your thumbs, playing with your hip flask… he had to go… at the risk of sounding a little weird, Pennis was more of an art project in my mind, living out my fantasy of being a naughty boy. Once I packed it up, I had no intention of doing anything like it again. ‘
