Actress Patsy Kensit has shared her positive outlook on aging, saying turning 50 is “a wonderful, huge, and so exciting milestone.”

The former Emmerdale star reached milestone age in March and celebrated with a family vacation to the Maldives.

In an interview with Hello!, Kensit said she rejects the pressure many older women feel to look younger.

At 50, she said: “I have never felt better or more excited about anything. None of us are going to watch again and who would? I will not do it. »

Kensit opened up about how she maintained a healthy lifestyle and revealed that she started meditation after a trip she took to Thailand.

She said, “I went to Chiva-Som to do meditation and it completely changed my life. I practice Yoga Nidra, which is a guided meditation. It makes me so much better.

“Yoga has never worked for me, I’ve never been able to do downward dog. I like light weights and running.

“What I put in my body, I find very important. I’m not on a diet, I just eat clean, fresh, healthy, unprocessed food. »

She added: ‘It’s important to take time for yourself, look in the mirror and love yourself. Be the best you can be for your age. »

Kensit, who sang with the band Eighth Wonder in the 1980s, has been married and divorced four times.

She has two sons, James, 26, with Simple Minds musician Jim Kerr and Lennon, 18, with former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher.

The actress said her role as a mother inspired her to work through the “ups and downs” she had experienced in her life.

She said: “I’ve been through a lot over the years. It can make you never want to leave your house again. What kind of mother would I have been if I didn’t get out of the duvet for a week?

“The children have always lived with me. I had to work, I had to earn a living. But I’m 50 now, I don’t care what people say. »
