1. He was influenced by music from an early age and the first album he bought was Barry Manilow’s This is for You (1976).
2. The first concert he attended was by the American hard rock band Van Halen just after his 15th birthday. It was after witnessing the Van Halen concert that he was inspired to take drum lessons.
3. By the time he reached his senior year in high school, he began teaching drums with his friend Greg Czarnecki and had over 30 students.
4. In 1987 he graduated from high school and accepted admission to a local college, but eventually dropped out after only 1 semester.
5. One of his friends named Patrick Finn pushed him to move to Los Angeles, which he did at the age of 21 in search of better opportunities.
6. Patrick became involved with a short-lived band called The Busch sometime after moving to Los Angeles.
7. In 1992 he became part of the rock band Weezer along with vocalist and lead guitarist Rivers Cuomo, bassist Matt Sharp and guitarist Jason Cropper.
