Patrick Stump is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, songwriter, and actor who also happens to be the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock band Fallout Boy. - Early in his music career, he played drums for a number of Chicago-based hardcore punk and power violence bands such as Public Display of Infection , XschleifenX , and Arma Angelus .
- He met Fallout Boy co-founder Joe Trohman about their mutual interest in music. Trohman introduced him to his co-founder and bassist Pete Wentz.
- Stump originally auditioned to be the drummer for Fallout Boy , but Wentz and Trohman managed to convince him to become the band’s lead singer. They later made him the band’s guitarist as well.
- With the success of their album, he and his band made their breakthrough into the mainstream. From Under the Cork Tree , which was certified double platinum.
- Towards the end of 2009, his band announced plans for an indefinite hiatus as the band members decided to pursue new projects. In February 2013, it was announced that Fallout Boy was ready to make its return.
- In July 2016, he was honored with the Best Singer award at the Alternative Press Music Awards.
- At the 2016 graduation ceremony for Glenbrook South High School, he was honored as the school’s Distinguished Alumnus.
- When Fallout Boy was on hiatus, Stump was revealed to be struggling with a slew of health issues, including high blood pressure and high cholesterol. He even suffered from asthma and pre-diabetes. It has been claimed that his health issues were partly to blame for the break.
