Fresh details have surfaced surrounding the arrest of outspoken social media activist, VeryDarkMan, further fueling public outrage as security agencies remain tight-lipped.

While many have continued to demand his release, new claims suggest there’s more to the story than previously thought.

Renowned Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has alleged that VeryDarkMan’s arrest may be linked to his involvement in a dispute involving a gospel singer, whose name remains unnamed. According to Kuti, this was revealed during a conversation with VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who also represents him in an ongoing legal battle with GTBank and other financial institutions.

Kuti didn’t mince words, asserting that no bank in Nigeria operates with integrity and hinting that the arrest may have religious undertones.

He claimed that prominent church figures are uncomfortable with VeryDarkMan’s fearless commentary. “As the Federal Government runs Nigeria, big pastors are also running things. It’s the so-called men of God going after VDM for speaking truth,” he said.

Meanwhile, online chatter has linked gospel singer Mercy Chinwo to the situation, as she is currently embroiled in a legal tussle with her former record label boss, Eezee Tee—adding more layers to the speculation.
