Following the growing clamour for the resignation of the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Issa Pantami Nigerians continue to raise alarm over his extremist views which was described as dangerous to Nigeria.
According to an APC chieftain, Yusuf Gagdi, the minister’s past statements allegedly seem to undermine the present security commitment.
In an interview with newsmen, he stressed that what is more important for Nigerians to debate on is what value is he adding to Nigeria
“What is more important is what value is he adding to the Nigerian economy. What value is Pantami adding to curtailing the issue of insecurity in Nigeria? Every politician has his own enemy and every politician has his own past.
“I could remember when Isa Pantami made comments about Boko Haram. The people sent in videos insulting him and trying to declare him wanted. How can you place that or juxtapose that with his present position?
“The man that made a statement in the past against or supporting certain security situation — which is unlikely. If that statement is true then he did not do well at all.
However, against the expectation of many Nigerians, the Federal government kept mum over the vociferous calls for the Minister to resign from office over the alleged links with terrorist groups, Al-Qaeda and Taliban.
When asked about the alleged Extremist comment by Pantami in an interview with Channels TV, a Nigerian freelance journalist, David Hundeyin said
"Pantami has not changed, the Ministry of Comms contracted an Islamic TV channel to stream an event by the Federal Republic of Nigeria…"

So Dennis Amachree, Fmr DSS Assistant Director said the DSS knew about Pantami's extremist views and indeed told the FG about it. Infact expressing concerns about him.
The FG ignored the DSS and still appointed Pantami as Minister.
There is a problem somewhere o.

When Dr. Obadiah Mailafa gave us a warning that our government was culpable in the killing of Nigerians and that an unnamed Nigerian governor was a sponsor of bandits killing Nigerians. DSS picked him up 3 times.
Then Pantami happened.

I am more worried a federal minister might have changed his mind on a useless NIN/SIM registration policy because he is being criticised for his past comments.
The allegation that telcom bosses are behind Pantami’s call for resignation is a distraction. Focus on the main issue.
