Pablo Sanz
Televisión Española lived a golden age of representation of classic works in the programs “Novela” and “Estudio 1”. Pablo Sanz was one of the usual faces, a character actor.
Pablo Sanz was born in Nieva, Segovia, on March 2, 1932. He began studying law in Valladolid, but the acting bug got the better of him, he became fond of doing theater at the university. And his was a matter of “timing”, because in the first steps of Televisión Española, he fell in love, and in 1961 he presented the musical program “Escala en Hi-Fi”, for the locution his voice was perfect.
In cinema he never did great things, although he was seen briefly as a secondary in titles such as 091 Police speaking or The economically weak , both from 1960. With Jesús Franco he made We are 18 years old (1959) and Vampiresas (1930) (1962). Instead of his abundant experience on theater stages, he benefited from mythical television programs such as “Estudio 1”, “Primera fila”, “Teatro de siempre” and “Novela”, where he participated in dozens of plays. One of his most impressive was Count Monte Cristo (series) (1969), where he was one of the villains of the show, Fernando Mondego, who betrayed Edmundo Dantés out of jealousy. On stage he was lucky enough to premiere some works byAntonio Buero Vallejo , as “La Fundación” in 1974. At almost 80 years old, in 2001, he was still doing theater, without going any further “Twelve men without mercy”.
In 2011 his wife, the actress Asunción Villamil, died, with whom he coincided in many works including the aforementioned Dumas one, and now it is the turn of a character actor, a good secondary in the works in which he was involved.
