on

The singer was born on February 24, 1943 in the town of Bayamo, in Cuba. He soon knew that music would be his thing, so he studied at the municipal conservatory of Havana. During his training stage he studied composition, harmony, counterpoint and orchestration.

In 1959 he began a great professional career at just 16 years old. Silvio Rodríguez and Noel Nicola were together with him the founders of Nueva Trova Cubana, a legendary formation in the history of Latin music.

Pablo Milanés was always considered one of the famous people who supported the Cuban regime, but he always wanted to qualify that belief, explaining his support for the revolution, but not how it was carried out: “I am a standard bearer of the revolution, not of the government . If the revolution gets stuck, it becomes orthodox, reactionary, contrary to the ideas that originated it; one has to fight.”

THE COUPLES OF PABLO MILANÉS

The private life of the great Cuban artist was very busy, having throughout it five wives, seven children and nine children. His first partner was Olga Ayoub, a relationship that began in 1961 and broke up in 1969 without having children.

Yolanda Benet was his second partner, with whom he had a four-year relationship. With the film and television producer he had her first three children: Lynn, Suylén and Liam. In addition, she was the muse for the composition of ‘Yolanda  , one of her greatest hits.

The third important woman in the life of Pablo Milanés was the model Zoe Álvarez, with whom he married and had Haydée , his fourth daughter. He dedicated the songs ‘Love’ and ‘Beginning and end of a green morning’ to her.

After separating from the model, the writer Sandra Pérez came into her life. With her he had her fifth child and he dedicated to her, how could it be otherwise, a song with her name.

They separated and the Mexican painter and writer Sandra Pérez arrived later, who was their longest relationship before meeting the Galician Nancy Pérez. There was a song for his fourth wife, which he titled with her own name. They also had a son.

His last partner, and who accompanied him until his death, was the Galician Nancy Pérez. With her he had twins, completing her official seven children. Rumors, never confirmed, speak of two more that were not recognized by the artist.

THE TRAGIC DEATH OF HIS DAUGHTER
