The University of Ibadan and University of Ilorin are among the list of Nigerian Universities featured in the list of Times Higher Education 2o23 Subject Rankings.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the Nigerian Universities Ranking Advisory Committee, Professor Emeritus Peter Okebukola in a statement released today.

Okebukola lauded this achievement as he revealed that the 2022 rankings featured only 5 Nigerian Universities in four subject rankings.

He however noted that the 2023 rankings featured 48 Nigerian Universities listed among many other world best in 11 subjects/disciplines.

The subjects according to the Chairman include business and economics; education; law; social sciences; arts and humanities; computer science; engineering; clinical and health; life sciences; physical sciences and psychology.

Among all the Universities listed however, no State University was on the list and only Covenant University featured as a private institiution on the World List.

The statement read: “Noteworthy is the impressive ranking of Covenant University, the only private university in the league tables, featuring prominently in business and economics, social sciences, computer science, engineering, and physical sciences.

“No state university is on the league tables. The federal universities with impressive rankings are University of Nigeria Nsukka, University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, University of Ilorin, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University of Technology Akure, Bayero University Kano, and University of Benin,” he stated.
