Osun State is set to disburse funds to retired primary school teachers who are yet to receive pensions.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Head of Service, Dr. Festus Oyebade and obtained by The Punch earlier today.
It was revealed that the State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola approved the release of N377,120,472.20 in order to pay gratuity to 1,887 pensioners of primary school extraction.
Recall that Oyetola had approved payments to retired teachers in the State on different occasions earlier in the year. The new approval is however the fourth round of gratuity to pensioners.
The statement however disclosed that payment to beneficiaries will commence on Thursday October 26, 2022.
It read in part: “The total no of beneficiaries is 1,887 at a gross amount of N377,120,472.20.
“The list will be posted on the notice boards of the Local Government Pensions Bureau and the Ministry of Information and Civic Engagement today Wednesday 26th October 2022.
“Payment starts tomorrow, Thursday 27th October 2022. The Governor assures workers of the State of giving their welfare the pride of place in his administration.”
