Orlando Bloom

In an age where trilogies proliferate, Orlando Bloom has achieved success thanks to two of them, The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean . Triple serving of success for the price of one.

Orlando Bloom can boast of having participated in several of the highest grossing films of all time thanks to the saga of The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. Orlando was born in Canterbury (England) on January 13, 1977. When he was four years old, his father, a political activist who fought for civil rights in South Africa, died. Bloom grew up with his sister Samantha, also an actress, his mother, and a family friend. He studied at Canterbury St. Edmunds School, where he had problems caused by his dyslexia. Her mother encouraged her children to study poetry and to appear at recitals. With the bug in his body, Bloom decided at the age of 16 that he wanted to be an actor. He moved to London and joined the National Youth Theatre, which opened the doors to the British American Drama Academy. His studies continued at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which was such a promising start that he nearly went under in 1998, when Bloom fell from a terrace and broke her back. The doctors considered him paralyzed when he regained mobility in his legs. And it seems that he is made of rubber, because he himself is amazed when he lists the number of bones that have been broken in life.

Before his broken back, Orlando had already made his television and film debut in the biographical drama Wilde (1997). He had a very secondary role, but it helped him coincide with English actors of the stature of Stephen Fry , Vanessa Redgrave and Jude Law . They say that life changes when you least expect it, and it was what happened in the case of Bloom. He had barely recovered from his back injury when Peter Jackson cast him as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001). Turned into an elf, he was linked to the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings based on the novels of the writer JRR Tolkien. The overwhelming worldwide box office success brought him international fame, as well as the first adventurous character of his career. Fame came with the ability to work with actors like Cate Blanchett , Christopher Lee , Ian McKellen , Viggo Mortensen , and Liv Tyler . The Fellowship of the Ring was Bloom’s first Hollywood film, the one that opened the doors of the movie mecca for him. Right after his first incarnation as Legolas, Ridley Scott called him to participate as a supporting role in the war film Black Hawk Down (2001), with Josh Hartnett , Ewan McGregor andEric Bana as co-stars. This was Bloom’s first job for one of Hollywood’s Midas, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a blockbuster specialist with a reputation for turning almost everything he touches to gold.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy had not yet finished , when Bruckheimer took charge of a new blockbuster: the Pirates of the Caribbean saga . Director Gore Verbinski called him to co -star in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), alongside Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley . The success of the tape prompted the filming of two more titles, which united Bloom with Will Turner, his adventurous character. Orlando was world famous, although he had not yet starred in any title. His debut in a leading role came with Kid Calcium Fists(2004), a comedy about a puny boxer who ends up fighting for the world championship. After the trilogy of the ring, the elf took the opportunity to enter a new blockbuster, Troy (2004). His incarnation of Paris, kidnapper of Helena, once again placed him on an epic adventure, this time alongside Brad Pitt , Eric Bana, Diane Kruger and Peter OiToole. He had become a more than usual face of adventure movies, so it is not surprising that Ridley Scott chose him to star in The Kingdom of Heaven (2005), framed in the time of the crusades. Despite the cast, Liam Neeson , Eva Green and Jeremy Irons, the film did not go very well by critics, who were especially primed with Bloom’s interpretation. A change of third beyond the heroes of epic worlds seemed appropriate. In Elizabethtown (2005) she abandoned the sword and other weapons, to star with Kirsten Dunst in a romantic comedy. But his adventures haunted him with the second and third parts of Pirates . Currently, Orlando is successfully verifying how the third installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: At the end of the world , triumphs at the box office around the world. Meanwhile, it is rumored that this friend from other times could star alongside Scarlett Johansson in Roman Polanski ‘s thriller Pompeii ., framed in Pompeii shortly before the eruption of Vesuvius. Bloom’s fame has caused rumors to not be separated from his person. This not only points to his professional life, but also to other areas such as the religious -some say that he is going to retire for a while to focus on the religion he professes, Buddhism-, or the sentimental, since Bloom has become one of the most desired boys on the planet. After having a relationship with the actress Kate Bosworth , Orlando is alone, although new girlfriends do not stop hanging on him, as happened, for example, with Penélope Cruz . What the actor has confirmed is that after Pirates, has decided to return to the London stage with ‘In Celebration’. This does not mean that she is going to leave the cinema, as has also been said, but that “I felt the responsibility to do so. I will be working on the original source of my work as an actor, in front of a live audience. There is nothing more intimidating and challenging for me or any other actor. It will be a good thing”, explains the ‘trilogy’ man.
