Ondo Chef Adeola eyes Hilda Baci’s title, begins 150-hour cook-a-thon
A Nigerian Chef, Adeyeye Adeola alias Chef Adeola has begun a process to have her name in the record books, by dislodging Hilda Baci’s record and setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Adeola began her cooking attempt on June 30 in Ondo state and hopes to hit 150 hours by July 7.
The chef first announced her intention to break the world record on June 22, a few weeks after Damilola Adeparusi, an Ekiti-based chef, completed her 120-hour cooking.
Hilda Baci, a Lagos State-based chef, caught the attention of Nigerians when she began and completed a 100-hour marathon in May. She was subsequently awarded and issued a plaque from Guinness World Record. Another Chef Adeparusi Damilola had also gone a cooking marathon of 120 hours but didn’t notify the record body before starting the journey.
Confirming Baci’s record, Guinness World Records wrote on its website, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes.
The previous record was held by an Indian chef, Chef Lata Tondon who cooked for 7 hours and 45 minutes in 2019.
