Olumide Phillips revealed as the owner of Dowen College

Olumide Phillips is the owner of Dowen College, Lekki; he came to the limelight following the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromini who was allegedly bullied by his seniors.

No doubt, since the horrible event that led to the death of the boy, people have been wondering who is the owner of Dowen College, as people react negatively to their response to the horrible event.

Who is Olumide Phillips

Dr Olumide was born on July 28, 1945; he attended Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos (1959-1963). He studied for his higher school certificate, Physics, Chemistry, and Pure and Applied Mathematics which he passed brilliantly at Igbobi College Lagos.

Olumide started his Engineering career as an apprentice with BP Oil Nigeria for 20 months before proceeding to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria September 1967 to study Mechanical Engineering.

More so, Olumide Phillips was a Mobil Scholar at Ahmadu Bello University where he graduated with a B.Sc Hons in 1970 in Mechanical Engineering.

His Work-Life

Dr Olumide Phillips joined Dunlop Nigeria in Ikeja, Lagos State, where he served for six months before joining Gulf Oil Nigeria as a Petroleum Engineer in January 1971.

At Gulf Oil, he was exposed to all areas of Petroleum Engineering practices, including Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling and Well Sites Engineering and Geological and Geophysical Subsurface Studies.

Phillips started in January 1973 at Pennsylvania State University, USA his Post Graduate Studies in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.

Evidently, the owner of Dowen College obtained his Master’s Degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in August 1974.

Olumide Phillips was the first recipient of a dual-title PhD in both Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and Operations Research in May 1976.

In addition, his areas of study included Reservoir Modeling and Simulation, Geological Modeling, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Thermal Recovery, Complex Linear Flow Models,  and Mathematical Programming.

Dr Phillips worked as both a research and teaching assistant during his post-graduate program and was a consultant on many advanced projects. He is the father of Lami, a popular Nigerian female artiste.

However, it was recently revealed that Dr Olumide Phillips is the father of Lami, a popular Nigerian female artiste.

As his daughter, Lami is the Director of Students Affairs at the school where the 12-year-old, Sylvester Oromoni was beaten to death by his seniors for not joining a cult in the school.

Her action has led to her being called out by many Nigerians and celebrities who believe she should say the truth about the circumstances that led to Sylvester’s death.

Her celebrity friends such as Omawunmi, Banky W and Adesua Etomi, Debola Williams, Tiwa Savage have all been called out also for not lending their voices to the unfortunate incident.

Unfortunately, Lami deleted her Instagram page while her husband, Labo Gbadamosi has kept his Instagram page under lock and key.

This, according to the report was a result of her not being comfortable for being called out.

Meanwhile, Dowen college has reportedly shut down the school due to the aching demand for justice by celebrities. Wizkid also joined in this demand for justice.
