Biography
Olamide was born on 15 March 1989 in Bariga, Lagos State, on the 15th of March, 1989. He is the second of the three children of Pa Adedeji and his second wife, Ronke Osisanya Adedeji. Not much is known about his educational background, apart from the fact that he dropped out of Tai Solarin University while studying Mass communication, due to financial problems
Although he has had an interest in music since he was a child, he began to sing professionally in 2010, signing to ID Cabasa’s Coded Tunes record label. He released his debut single, “Eni Duro” in the same year. The song was a critical and commercial success, receiving TV and radio plays across the country.
In 2011, he released his debut album Rapsodi. The album had guest appearances from numerous artists, including Wizkid, ID Cabasa, 9ice, Reminisce, and D’banj. It was also a commercial success thanks to its lead singles Eni Duro and Omo “Omo To Shan”.
In 2012, Olamide left Coded Tunes and started his own record label YBNL Nation. He released his second studio album “YBNL” in November of the same year, properly establishing his presence in the Nigerian Music Industry.
The album features guest appearances from Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kayswitch, Dammy Krane, Reminisce, and many more. It also contained hit bangers like “Ilefo Illuminati”, “First of All”, “Stupid Love” and “Voice of the Street”.

Olamide is no doubt one of the most successful musicians on the continent, with numerous records to show for it. He has also released multiple commercially successful albums. His third studio album, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth, released in 2013 was one of the best Nigerian albums released in 2013. It won Best Album of the Year at the 2014 Headies Award and the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
Street OT was one of the iconic albums to grace the Nigeria rap scene. It was released in 2014, Preceded by the singles titled “Story For The Gods” and “Goons Mi”. In 2015, Olamide collaborated with Phyno to release 2 Kings. It remains to date one of the best collaborative projects in the Industry.
Olamide followed up 2 Kings, with his fifth studio album, Eyan Mayweather. The album boasted 21 tracks with no single feature. He released his sixth studio album The Glory, on 23 December 2016. His other projects include 999, Carpe Diem, and UY Scuti.
Aside from having commercially successful albums, Olamide is also prominent for producing commercially successful proteges under his label YBNL Nation. He has been instrumental to the success of many young artists in the Industry such as Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, Fireboy, Asake, and many others.
In 2020, YBNL Nation signed a Joint Venture deal with Empire, an international distribution company, to push its current signees into the international limelight. One of the results of the deal is the Fireboy DML collaboration with Ed Sheeran.
