Octavia Spencer
Short and chubby, Octavia Spencer looks like the ideal friend. After many years of activity, she has caught her attention for her role as a gossipy woman in Maids and Ladies (The Help) .
Sixth of seven children, Octavia L. Spencer was born on May 25, 1972, in Montgomery (Alabama). After graduating in Liberal Arts from Auburn University, she launched her career as an actress.
She began working in the cinema when Joel Schumacher hired her to help organize the casting for A Time to Kill . But she ended up asking the filmmaker if she could audition for a small role, too, and that’s how she briefly appeared playing a nurse.
Since then, he has made small appearances in numerous films such as Never Been Kissed , Being John Malkovich , This Grandma Is Dangerous , Spider-Man , or Drag Me to Hell . She also filmed numerous episodes of series, and even achieved some impact as Betty ‘s secondary , the American version of Ugly Betty , where she was a social worker. Octavia Spencer made her stage acting debut in Los Angeles with the play “The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife,” in which she starred with veteran Beth Grant .
She was chosen to put the voice to Minny, in the audiobook of Maids and ladies (The Help) . He left such a good taste in his mouth that when Tate Taylor was preparing to shoot the film version, he decided to turn to her to play the same character. The role of her has been quite acclaimed by critics.
