NYSC Denies Reports of N70,000 Minimum Wage for Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed recent social media claims suggesting that corps members’ bank accounts will be upgraded to reflect a new minimum wage of N70,000.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, clarified that no official directive has been given to implement the N70,000 minimum wage or to make any changes to corps members’ bank accounts.

NYSC Urges Corps Members to Ignore False Claims About N70,000 Minimum Wage

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised corps members to remain vigilant and disregard misleading information circulating online about a N70,000 minimum wage and account upgrades.

In a recent statement, Eddy Megwa, NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, emphasized that the management has been alerted to erroneous reports suggesting that corps members will receive a N70,000 minimum wage and that their bank accounts will be updated accordingly. Megwa stressed that these claims are completely false and unfounded.

“Corps members, parents and members of the public should note that no directive has been received from the relevant sector of government responsible for wages matters.

“It is, therefore, impossible for the NYSC to issue any information on such. Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme and should therefore ignore the directive accordingly.

“The NYSC, by this release therefore admonishes corps members to desist from allowing mischief makers who are set to mislead Nigerians from continuing to play on their intelligence.

“Bloggers and social media influencers are warned to stop issuing statements that concern the management of National Youth Service Corps without authorization.”
