Noah Hawley is a writer who has established himself with the successful conversion of the scheme of the celebrated Coen brothers film “Fargo” into a template for the homonymous television series.

Noah Hawley was born in New York in 1967, the same day as his twin brother Alexi, and studied political science at Sarah Lawrence College in nearby Yonkers. His taste for his letters comes from his maternal family, since his mother was an activist and essay writer, while his grandmother wrote plays.

Although she worked in the world of law and computer science, in New York and San Francisco respectively, she was always attracted to the world of music and writing, and it would be this second that would become her way of earning a living. Curiously, her brother Alexi would also end up writing series like The Following , although with less impact. In 1998 she saw her first novel published, “A Conspiracy of Tall Men”, which would be followed by four other titles that move in the thriller genre. But she was attracted to the scripts that later became movies and television series, and her imagination in concocting her stories would be served by her professional background.

His first screenplay made into a film gave rise to The Alibi (The Alibi) in 2006 , which went unnoticed. But he would have much better luck on television, writing scripts for Bones proved to be a highly productive endeavor, which later allowed her to create his first series, The Unusuals , which only ran for ten episodes, but allowed him to introduce humor into a police series. No wonder the opportunity arose to turn the Coen Brothers’ Fargo into a TV series ., which to many purists sounded like pure sacrilege, but which turned out to be an unexpected and valuable success. Hawley was able to discover that in the original film there were some elements –Deep America, simple people and palette, bizarre situations, black humor, drops of existential philosophy…– that could be replicated in different plots where names would be changed out of respect for the living, and they would stick to the authentic facts out of respect for the dead, an ironic statement of principles with which each episode begins. At the moment there are three great seasons, and everything indicates that there will be more.

In addition, Hawley was once again signed by FX to develop Legion , a series based on the Marvel comic of the same name, about a schizophrenic character with telepathic powers from the universe of mutants. Everything indicates that the writer, who has also been behind the camera for many episodes of the series, will make his film directorial debut with Doctor Doom , another title based on a Marvel comic.

Hawley currently lives in Austin, Texas, and is married to Kyle, with whom he has two children.
