Nnamdi Kanu Drops Bombshell: ‘I’ll Be Free Before April Ends!’

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has boldly predicted that he will be released before the end of April 2025, despite spending nearly four years in detention.
Kanu made this statement during a visit from the President-General of the Igbo Community Association (ICA), Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja. Despite his prolonged incarceration, Kanu appeared upbeat, healthy, and even gained weight, contrary to speculations that detention had taken a toll on him.
During their conversation, Kanu reaffirmed his commitment to the struggle for self-determination, insisting that his only “offense” was encouraging the Igbo people to rise and demand their rights. He also called for a referendum, emphasizing that the people should have a say in their political future.
However, he did not hide his disappointment over what he described as weak leadership within the Igbo community, stating that the absence of strong voices had led to the marginalization of the region at a critical time.
Regardless of the challenges, Kanu remains optimistic, expressing full confidence in his legal team and his belief that his release is imminent. His statement has sparked discussions among supporters and political observers, with many eagerly watching whether the Nigerian government will respond.
Ezenekwe, who issued a press release after the visit, also called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and secure Kanu’s release, appealing to Tinubu’s democratic values and history of advocating for justice.
