The Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Abuja has called on President Bola Tinubu to take action on the issues that led to the recent nationwide protests. NMA urges Tinubu to address protesters’ demands.
Dr. Charles Ugwuanyi, the chairman of the NMA, said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the main problem is hunger, caused by the high cost of food.
“We are calling on the president to make the economy friendly so Nigerians will be able to put food on their tables,” he said.
Ugwuanyi also asked President Tinubu to improve security in the country, which is facing many challenges.
He noted that despite the president’s efforts, “hunger and unbearable conditions in many parts of the country persisted, fueling public discontent.”
The NMA chairman emphasized that Nigerians are struggling and the government needs to address Protesters’ Demands.
“Nigerians are hungry and government should wake-up to their responsibility and rescue the country,” he said.
“The government must address the main issue of hunger and cost of food. The president should address all these challenges and other economy-related issues like the cost of fuel that is injecting pain on the people.”
