Nigerians are already reacting to the statement of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that threaten hoteliers risk of being prosecuted and jailed if they allow Yahoo Boys to check into their facilities.
In a statement on its official Facebook page, the Commission said hoteliers could bag a five-year jail term for allowing cybercriminals access to lodging in their hotels.
You will recall that earlier the Commission operatives had violently seized a Lagos hotel access card and broke into guests’ rooms in an overnight raid.
More so, many of the guests lamented that there were naked under the duvet during the raid, adding that they were not even allowed to dress up before being interrogated by the officers, who said they were on a manhunt for suspected Internet fraudsters.
Nigerians while expressing their shock at such a move, ask how will the hoteliers know they accommodate suspected Yahoo Boys when they have loads of customers
I don't understand. So people who have not been declared wanted should be policed by private citizens on mere suspicion that they *look* like a Yahoo Boy?
Also, what does a Yahoo Boy look like? Because the EFCC chairperson looks like a startup Yahoo Boy. https://t.co/CQ4btrfNnB

I must commend EFCC for the ongoing war against Yahoo Boys because the level of fraud among young people in the country is just unbelievable. I believe Bawa as a young person understands this but also go after civil servants. They are more corrupt than most governors.

Some of you won't realise how bad EFCC raid of Hotel is until the day your company will send you to Akure and EFCC will raid the Hotel you lodge and your company will see you on ChannelsTV the next day being Paraded as a Yahoo boy! Madness!!!

Efcc going after Yahoo boys is a just cause but going after them just because you want to get your share is criminal and both the catcher and the catchee are one and same and will be disgraced soon

There really isn't any difference between SARS and EFCC. And gradually, Nigeria is devolving into a military state, where the rule of law is meaningless and business owners can't operate in peace again because other people commit crimes.
