Dear Nigerians, we have compiled the top trending news in Nigeria for today 28th of November 2022. The outline also consists of the breaking news in Nigeria today and the major news headlines in Nigeria.

1. Atiku’s spokesperson calls Tinubu a comedian and advises APC to replace him

Phrank Shaibu, the Special Assistant (Public Communications) to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, advised the All Progressives Congress, APC on Sunday to replace Bola Tinubu in order to avoid more embarrassment in the 2023 election.

He claimed that, based on Tinubu’s statements and the scenarios caused by his continual slip-ups and gaffes, he should only be running for Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic and not Grand Commander.

“Tinubu may be a successful politician whose lifetime ambition is to be President of Nigeria, but it takes more than being a politician to become Nigeria’s President. Among other things, it takes credibility.

“The fact that everything about Tinubu is shrouded in secrecy should tell us that the APC presidential candidate lacks the credibility to govern a country like Nigeria.

“But more importantly, with the disaster that the APC administration has turned out to be, it will be more catastrophic to have a Tinubu as his successor. Governing Nigeria is not all about identifying surrogates who will man critical political offices for future political gains. continue reading here

2. Adeleke takes an oath of office as Osun gov

In keeping with pledges to the state’s citizens, Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was on Sunday sworn in as executive governor of Osun State.

Adeleke remarked that his inauguration represented the start of a new era and pledged to right the wrongs of previous administrations in the state during his inaugural speech, in which he reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare, peace, and security of the state.

All appointments made by Oyetola between July 17 and November 26, 2022, have been reversed, according to Adeleke. He gave the directive to freeze all state financial accounts.

Along with this, the governor changed the name of the state from “State of Osun” to “Osun State,” claiming that the former was incompatible with Nigeria’s Constitution.

Dignitaries at the occasion included PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; vice presidential candidate, Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, among others.

3. Gov Adeleke makes first appointments

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Mr. Kassim Akinleye as Chief of Staff.

The governor appointed Mr. Teslim Igbalaye as Secretary to the State Government, SSG, while Mr Olawale Rasheed is the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

“If you think migrating regularly is good for you, all well and good. By all means, go. But you can’t now say because people are leaving then, it is a sign that something is fundamentally wrong,” he stressed.

Adesina asserted that some Nigerians will never emigrate, despite the fact that they have always done so, even before the current administration.

“You said 70,000 people left, what average is that out of over 200 million Nigerians?

“There are Nigerians who will never leave this country no matter how things are. For every person that leaves, there are 100 people that want to stay,” he stressed.

9. Lionel Messi’s camp denies Inter Miami move

Reps for Lionel Messi have denied rumors that the star player from Argentina will sign with Inter Miami next summer, calling them “false” and “fake news.”

Meanwhile, Newcastle is reportedly interested in signing former Premier League flop Moise Kean, who joined Juventus from Everton on a two-year loan deal last summer.

Tottenham is showing “concrete interest” in Club Brugge and Denmark winger Andreas Skov Olsen, according to reports.

Newcastle will rival Barcelona in January as they look to sign highly-rated Brazilian teenager Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.

10. “Restructured Or Repainted,” New Naira Notes Will Replace Old Ones, Emefiele Insists

The newly redesigned naira notes will replace the current ones by January 31st, 2023, according to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele, who has emphasized that it is irrelevant how Nigerians refer to them.

Speaking at the 57th Annual Bankers Dinner in Lagos, Emefiele made reference to criticisms that the new notes did not significantly differ from the current ones other than in color.

He asserts that because the deadline of January 31, 2023, is sacred, anyone in Nigeria has 100 days to return all of the current notes to the banks.

Emefiele continued by saying that individuals who believe the redesign just involves a color change will have no choice but to search for that color after the deadline.

Analysis of the major issues he identified mainly pointed to the massive hoarding of banknotes, with over 85% of the money in circulation being kept outside of the banking system.

At the same time, the amount of money in circulation more than doubled, rising from N1.46 trillion in December 2015 to N3.23 trillion in September 2022. This alarming trend needs to be reversed.

According to him, the effort will reduce the amount of money that is not in the banking system and, as monetary policy becomes more effective, helps in containing inflation.
