Governor Bago Expresses Sorrow Over Niger Petrol Tanker Explosion

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic petrol tanker explosion in Niger State that claimed the lives of 48 people in Essa village, Katcha Local Government Area.

The explosion occurred on Sunday morning along the Bida-Agaie-Lapai highway.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the incident as “painful, unfortunate, and devastating.”

He further remarked, “The loss is colossal; it is quite saddening.”

The explosion in Niger State left many dead, burned cattle, and destroyed vehicles and properties, just two kilometers from the Dendo Community in Agaie.

Governor Bago urged road users to prioritize safety and adhere to road traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies. He stressed the importance of caution on the roads to protect lives and property.

“I urge road users to always be cautious and abide by road traffic regulations to safeguard lives and property,” the governor stated.

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) and other relevant authorities have been mobilized for rescue operations. Governor Bago also offered prayers for the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.

“I pray to God to comfort the families of the victims and grant quick recovery to those injured,” he added.
