Nicola Pagett

She played Elizabeth Bellamy, the rebellious young woman in the acclaimed British miniseries “Upstairs and Downstairs,” in the 1970s. Nicola Pagett died on March 3, 2021 from complications of a brain tumor at age 75.

Born on June 15, 1945 in Cairo, where her father worked as an oil executive, Nicola Pagett  entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London at the age of 17. She achieved good reviews for a tour of the play “La Contessa”, where she shared the stage with Vivien Leigh . 

He became very popular when he joined the cast of Up and Down . “There were really no stars in the series, that’s where its greatness resided,” he said in an interview in 2002. “Everyone had the same importance in the action. The product was more important than the people. That’s why it was a success. They were all very well, it didn’t succeed because we had a well-known actor among us”. In the second season, her character Elizabeth enters into a loveless marriage with the poet Lawrence Kirbridge ( Ian Ogilvy ) and has an affair before leaving for the United States, disappearing from the plot. It was Pagett’s idea to leave the series because she “didn’t want to be known for just one thing.” 

Nicola Pagett ‘s notable work on the small screen also includes a role in the 1973 television movie  The True Story of Frankenstein , and as the lead in the 1977    miniseries Anna Karenina . ,  There is a girl in my soup ,  Oliver ‘s story  and  An unusual adventure .

She is survived by her daughter Eve and her sister Angela.
