NICO ABAD (‘MASTERCHEF CELEBRITY 7’): HIS AGE, HIS PARTNER AND HIS DISMISSAL FROM TELECINCO

on

He was born in the city of Madrid in the year 1970, knowing from a very young age that journalism was his thing. He took his first professional steps in the program El día después , which was then broadcast on Canal+. He started out as an intern but ended up working his way up to being its editor, something that he combined with a degree in Journalism.

Later his opportunity would come to be co-director of ‘La liga Disney Channel’, for three years later to make the leap to stand in front of the cameras as a collaborator in spaces such as El partido del siglo, ‘Lo + Plus’ and co-present with Raquel Sánchez Silva ‘The Lifestyle hour’.

Although it became an almost cult space, the birth of Cuatro as an open channel led him to jump as presenter of ‘I am the one who knows the most about television in the world’, a contest that managed to be one of the great programs of the early years of the red chain.

With the purchase of the rights to the 2006 World Cup by the chain, Nico Abad returned to the sport. In addition to being a reporter, he also presented programs such as ‘Maracaná Alemania 06’ and ‘Zona Cuatro’.

After ‘Football Cracks’, a reality show in the purest Operación Triunfo style that was looking for new football promises, his last great challenge would come on television as the narrator of the MotoGP World Cup on Mediaset. When Telecinco decided to do without the championship, he became part of Deportes Cuatro, being fired in 2020 in a controversial manner.

THE CONTROVERSIAL DISMISSAL OF CUATRO DE NICO ABAD

In June 2020, Mediaset alleged that it had participated in several advertising campaigns without the authorization of the audiovisual group, which, according to the chain, was a breach of contract.

After denouncing it, and losing at first, the Superior Court of Justice of Madrid (TSJM) agreed with Nico Abad and Mediaset had to pay him 279,686.07 euros when he was declared unfair dismissal.

The journalist will have to compete in ‘MasterChef Celebrity 7’ against María Zurita , Norma Duval, Patricia Conde,  Isabelle Junot,  Fernando Andina,  Manu Baqueiro, Pepe Barroso Jr , Daniela Santiag o,  Xavier Deltell , María Escoté,  Emmanuel Esparza ,  Lorena Castell , Eduardo Rosa and Ruth Lorenzo.
