Netflix May Stop Users Sharing Passwords
Popular Video-On-Demand Streaming site, Netflix is considering to clamp down on users sharing passwords as it introduces user verification feature.
The popular on-demand video streaming site, Netflix is considering disabling the feature of allowing users to share their passwords with other people.
This was disclosed in a tweet by The Holywood Reporter, a US media outlet on Friday.
According to them, Netflix carried out a test which intends to enforce stricter rules against users sharing their password with people living elsewhere.
The rules provide that users will now have to verify their relationship to the account owner through an email or text.
"This test is designed to help ensure that people using #Netflix accounts are authorized to do so," a spokesperson for the streamer said. Viewers can either verify their identity with a text or email code, or opt to "verify later" https://t.co/0pxN7OtMTZ

Recall that through the 14 years of service by Netflix, they have been known for the feature of allowing users to share their accounts with family and friends.
Meanwhile, Inc.com had said, “to be completely fair, this is not a ‘feature’ in the sense that it was something Netflix designed or marketed but then for many people, it seems like it is because it’s been around so long.”
This is evident in that this ‘feature’ is beginning to turn to a disadvantage for the company as many people who are neither family nor friends now share the same account across the world.
Not only Nigerians are guilty of tapping into other people’s Netflix account to enjoin premium contents for free.
Unfortunately, with the apparent crackdown, it seems a lot of password sharers will be forced to subscribe or knocked off.
