The Nigeria national basketball team set a historic feat last Saturday as they become the first African nation to beat the US basketball team, with a 90-87 win.
The national team also known as D’tigers began their victory streak by beating Argentina 94-71 on Monday evening at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
The National Basketball Federation took to their official Twitter handle to dedicate the win and write a tribute to the singer, they stated that the singer saw this moment when Nigeria would become a dominant force in global basketball.
They further stated that it was ironic that the day the Nigeria Tigers beat the United States the no 1 basketball team in the entire world was the day the singer gave up his last breath.

It has been reported that the singer passed away at the age of 44, following a hard-fought battle with Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma – a type of cancer that starts in the white blood cells.
The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as other public figure has sent their condolences concerning the death of the singer.
According to the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity Femi Adeshina, President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt condolences to the Fasasi family on the death of the renowned singer.
He further noted that The President notes that the death of the singer is not only a loss to the Nigerian music industry, but to the country as a whole.
