Naveen Andrews shares redemption with her character Sayid from Lost , the beginning of a new life. He knows how hard it is to start over and give up aspects of the past. Luckily for Naveen, in this regard he wins the game over Sayid, a prime example of the man who struggles to change but seems hopelessly doomed.

He is the eldest son of two brothers. Naveen Andrews was born in London on January 17, 1969. Of Indian origin, he showed interest in acting from a young age, but he did not get down to business until his life took a 180º turn. When he was 16 years old, he had an affair with his math teacher, Geraldine Feakins, which caused a scandal. From the relationship, his son Jaisal was born in 1992. He was 16 years old when he entered the London School of Music and Dramatic Art. Thanks to which he had already made his film debut before his son was born with the film London Kills Me (1991). Ironically, the story of his life could have been summed up with the title of that film.

Naveen Andrews has been addicted to alcohol and drugs, a subject he talks about naturally when asked. He acknowledges that he went through hell, but now he’s proud to be over it. He is extremely grateful that his life is currently taking place in the United States, because he does not know what would have happened to him if he had continued living in his hometown. While London nearly kills him, Naveen continues his run with major and minor characters in minor titles. His first role in a relevant film was in 1995 in Kamasutra under the orders of Mira Nair , a director for whom he would repeat in My Own Country (1998).

Despite his English origin, the color of his skin has marked his career, as evidenced by roles such as the one offered to him by Anthony Minghella in The English Patient (1996), where he carried Juliette Binoche on the air . Over time, titles with a certain entity of the most varied genres have been consolidated in his career, such as the family My great friend Joe (1998), the action-packed Rollerball (2002) , the bloody Planet Terror (2007) and the dramatic The stranger in you (2007). In between, he filmed the unknown Drowing on Dry Land (1999) where he was a taxi driver in charge of taking Barbara Hershey. The actress, 21 years older than him, became his girlfriend to date. Demonstrating his fondness for older women -confirmed by himself-, his courtship suffered an interruption. During this break, the actor had his second child –Naveen Joshua- with Elena Eustache.

He has left part of it in some of his films, as in Bodas y prejudicios  (2004). Naveen has always been very fond of music and in this very Bollywood movie he demonstrated his ability to dance. In this sense, Provoked: A True Story (2006) is hard where, having overcome his addictions, he played an alcoholic and abusive husband.

Naveen has complained on occasion that both Hollywood and his native country offer very specific roles for people of color. Certainly, his career has been marked by the pigment of his skin, but he has also known how to take advantage of it. Given that Hollywood is not usually particularly picky about details, Naveen knew how to perfectly use his color as a Londoner of Indian descent to pass himself off as an Iraqi. And so he got the role of Sayid Jarrah in the Lost series (2004-2010) for which he is known throughout the planet. Perhaps he is the most human character on the incredible island created by JJ Abrams. His officer from Saddam Hussein’s Republican Guard army immediately caught on with the public. He is about a redeemed torturer, who fights every day to move on with a new life away from violence. Not an easy task as the also redeemed Naveen Andrews knows well.
