1. Evan Lysacek (2009) – Nastia met Evan Lysacek, figure skater at the NBC network’s Skate & Gymnastics Spectacular event in October 2008. The two bonded over their mutual understanding of the commitment it took to handle the intense pressures of preparing for fight the Olympics. Dating rumors intensified when she attended the 17 ^th ESPY Awards in Los Angeles in July 2009. Nastia also accompanied Evan to the 2010 Winter Olympics where he became the first American in 22 years to win the Olympic gold medal for figure skating. Shortly after his win, he claimed to be single during an interviewthat his rigorous training left him little time for dating, putting further speculation about Nastia and Evan’s relationship to rest.
2. She competed in National Championships for the first time in 2002 as a junior at the age of 12. Despite a fall on the uneven bars that pushed her back to 15 ^th rank, she nailed all other apparatus in the competition and found a spot on the US national team.

Her first international competition was the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where her team won the gold medal while Nastia won 3 silver medals for her performances on uneven bars, balance beam and all-around category, scoring 37.874/40.

Personal trainer

After years of exercising 7 hours a day, Nastia stopped exercising completely for a short time after retirement in 2012 and gained 20 pounds.She claims she felt completely out of place in a normal gym. She brought her discipline back together by taking Pilates classes and running outdoors.

Once she felt stronger, she began taking more advanced exercise classes like Barre, Hot Yoga, SoulCycle, and Barry’s Bootcamp. Nastia also developed an interest in boxing, occasionally hiring a trainer for one-on-ones.Back to her fitness, she now feels competent enough to share her workouts, exercise style, and nutrition tips on her blog.

As Nastia travels a lot and has long busy days behind her, her favorite time to exercise is early in the morning, for which she wakes up at 5:00 in the morning.When it comes to DIET, Nastia sticks to organic, gluten-free foods. Most of their meals are high in protein with lots of veggies on the side. She frequently eats a kale salad with homemade dressing.

2. Nastia started gymnastics at the age of 3, since she practically lived at her father’s academy, because her parents could not afford a babysitter.
3. Her parents did not want her to do gymnastics initially, as she was aware of the intense emotional and physical pressures of the sport. But they relented, seeing their aptitude for it.
4. She was unable to compete in the Athens 2004 Olympics because she was 10 months younger than the required age to be part of the senior national team.
5. Nastia failed to perform at her best in the 2012 Olympic Trials, which was her last event before retiring, but still received a standing ovation from the crowd of 18,000 San Jose fans.
6. She specialized in bars and beams.
7. Liukin has held an annual competition titled The Nastia Liukin Cup since 2010. It offers the athletes ahead of the elite the experience of performing on a raised podium and in a large arena.
