The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Abubakar Isah, has come forward with damning allegations against Seyi Tinubu, son of Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, claiming that a bribe rejection led to a series of brutal attacks and political intimidation.

Speaking during a press conference, Atiku revealed that he was invited to Lagos for a meeting with Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth. At the heart of the conversation, he claimed, was a ₦100 million offer, which he declined. What followed, according to him, was nothing short of a nightmare.

“I was stripped naked and beaten seriously. In collaboration with the MD of NTA, I was forced to make a televised announcement that I had stepped down as NANS President,” Atiku stated, alleging he was coerced to make a false renunciation in exchange for his freedom.

According to him, the assault was part of a premeditated scheme to remove him from office for refusing to dance to political tunes. He claimed Seyi Tinubu even boasted during the ordeal that if he were killed, the Inspector General of Police would help cover it up.

Further heightening tensions, Atiku recounted a separate violent episode that took place during the official inauguration ceremony of NANS held at The Wells Carlton Hotel in Asokoro, Abuja. The event, attended by notable dignitaries including former Education Minister and Kano State Governor Senator Ibrahim Shekarau and ex-Kogi State Governor Captain Idris Wada, turned chaotic when armed thugs allegedly linked to Seyi Tinubu stormed the venue.

“They came in with cutlasses and guns. As soon as Senator Shekarau began his speech, they barged in, forcing him to stop. People were stabbed, chased out, and their phones and valuables looted,” he said.

Photographs of Atiku’s injuries have surfaced online, allegedly sustained during the attack, sparking a wave of outrage and calls for accountability. He insists the entire ordeal is a broader effort to silence student leadership and manipulate the association’s independence.
