Muslim pilgrims who have recently arrived in Saudi Arabia for the Haj pilgrimage are expressing their concerns about the exorbitant prices they are encountering. According to one pilgrim, their week-long stay, which includes land travel and shared accommodations, has amounted to a staggering $7,000. These elevated costs are raising issues and causing financial strain for those undertaking this sacred journey.
Meanwhile, even though many Muslims arriving in Saudi Arabia for the haj are facing inflation and high prices, it did not deter the fact that the journey is once in a lifetime duty of every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it. Many have noted that even with the deteriorating economic conditions they would still embark on the holy journey even if they have to sell all they have for the sake of seeing the holy mosque, seeing the Kaaba, saluting the prophet, and standing on the pure Arafat mountain, everything is worth it.
Likewise, in recent news, because of the exorbitant amount paid to go on the spiritual journey some pilgrims from Osun State, Nigeria also, lament the condition of things in Saudi Arabia, but most especially the quality of food after paying over N3 million naira to perform their sacred duty.
