Mr Macaroni Criticizes Governor Sanwo-Olu Over Lagosians’ Hardship

Popular Nigerian activist and comedian, Debo Adebayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, has taken to social media to criticize Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over the economic hardship faced by residents of the state.
In a strongly-worded post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Mr Macaroni stated that addressing the suffering of Lagosians is not an act of generosity by the governor but a fundamental duty of his office. He lamented that many Nigerians have been conditioned to accept the barest minimum from politicians, which has resulted in a lack of accountability in governance.
“The Governor is not doing anyone a favor by addressing the hardship Lagosians are facing. It is his responsibility!!!” Mr Macaroni wrote.

The activist further reminded Governor Sanwo-Olu that the people fund his official privileges, including security, accommodation, and luxury convoys. He argued that while the governor enjoys the benefits of his office, Lagosians continue to suffer economic hardship without relief.
“Sir @jidesanwoolu, the people pay for your nice convoy, your security, accommodation, and every other luxury your office affords you. All of these and many more make things very easy and enjoyable for you such that you never have to deal with the pain and hardship the people suffer,” he added.

Mr Macaroni called on the governor to serve Lagosians with respect and dedication, insisting that they deserve better treatment from their elected officials.
His post has since sparked reactions across social media, with many Nigerians echoing similar sentiments about political accountability and governance in the country.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has yet to respond to the criticism.
