She garnered attention as Anna, the lizard-villain of the rejuvenated “V (2009).” And although the series did not quite come to fruition, just after its cancellation Morena Baccarin became the wife of a hero whom everyone had believed dead for years, in “Homeland”, the spy series that is all the rage.

Born on June 2, 1979 in Rio de Janeiro, Morena Baccarin is the daughter of actress Vera Setta and Fernando Baccarin, a news coordinator for a Brazilian channel. At the age of seven, her family moved to Greenwich Village (New York). There, she studied at the School for Collaborative Studies, where she had as a classmate Claire Danes , destined to work with her on the Homeland series many years after her. Her brunette, she later went through high school and the Juilliard School theater program, where she learned everything she knows about acting.

Morena Baccarin made her film debut with a small role in the 2001 fashion comedy Perfume . But she began to attract attention as Inara Serra, the prostitute living on the ship of the stars of the Joss Whedon television series. Firefly . The series was canceled early, but it gave rise to the film Serenity , where she Morena reprized her role.

He then went through numerous series, although his work stands out in a funny chapter of How I Met Your Mother , where he was an inadvisable ‘flirt’ because of his crazy eyes. She also served as a villain in Stargate SG-1 , as a doctor’s daughter in OC , and as an assassin capable of seducing the central character in The Mentalist .

But fame is due to V (2009) , where she had the most weighty role, since she replaced Diana, the original villain, the most remembered character. Morena played the new alien leader, Anna, the daughter of her predecessor (the original actress, Jane Badler , eventually joined the cast). But despite the initial hype, the series didn’t pan out and was canceled prematurely after two brief seasons.

But he did not stay unemployed for long. At that time, those responsible for Homeland had recorded the pilot episode with the Scottish actress Laura Fraser, but they thought they would score a point by replacing her with Morena, as soon as they found out that the latter had been released from her. After all, they only had to reshoot a few sequences in which she appeared, and she could continue embodying the rest of the series as her character. This is how Morena ended up becoming Jessica, wife of the eight-year-old missing hero Nick Brody ( Damian Lewis ), whose CIA agent ( Claire Danes) suspects that he has gone over to the enemy. Mother of two children, she had started a relationship with Mike Faber, a friend of her husband, when she believed that he had died. The series has achieved great success, so Morena has a job for a few seasons.

The interpreter is also doing well on a personal level, since on Thanksgiving Day 2011 she married her boyfriend, the film director Austin Chick ( Girls Against Boys ).
